Inside the SeaCURE® System

Chloropac® System Inside

At the heart of the SeaCURE® ballast water treatment system is the Chloropac® electrolyzer which utilizes proven technology to oxidize and eliminate aquatic invasive species through the in situ production of Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl). NaOCl a chlorine compound is an effective biocide and has been used for many years to prevent marine growth in the seawater piping and heat transfer systems of land based, offshore and shipboard installations.

The Chloropac system from Evoqua Water Technologies is an Electrolytic Sodium Hypochlorite generating system which operates on the principle of electrolysis of seawater. With over 2500 shipboard installations, the Chloropac system has an established reputation for safe, convenient, reliable and effective protection against marine growth.

​The Chloropac system consists of two main components: an Electrolyzer (comprised of two or more Chloropac cells) and a Transformer/Rectifier (T/R).

The T/R provides a DC current which travels through the salt water in the cell and disassociates the various basic elements which react to produce a dilute stable NaOCl solution.
