FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT JWI FILTER PRESSES

How do I change the filter cloth on the tail plate of my gasketed filter press?

Unlike intermediate filter cloths, the end-plate (both head plate and tail plate) cloths do not have a sewn-in centerfeed eye.

  1. Remove the old head cloth by first removing the centerfeed assembly's clip nut located in the center, holding the cloth in place. Utilize a spanner wrench for this task.
  2. Then, tap the corners of the new end-cloth into the head-plate making sure it is positioned correctly.
  3. Cut out the cloth around the centerfeed pipe using the equivalent of a hot knife, soldering gun or the like. This will seal the edges of the cut to prevent possible fraying of threads in the cloth.
  4. After the hole has been cut, finish installing the head cloth, then re-attach the clip nut.
